December Event - Blue Bear Tavern with Camp Sojourner

During the holidays you'll certainly eat and drink way too much (which we endorse...really, we do!)  But will you give too much?  Come join us as we collectively finish off that 2011 Resolution List and get some major giving under our belts.

Help us spread some cheer and close out the year (bam! rhymes!) by attending December’s Socially Conscious Philadelphia (SCP) Happy Hour benefiting Camp Sojourner!

The formula is simple; pay $10 and get one free drink and some delish appetizers courtesy of Blue Bear Tavern (we got a sneak peek of the menu...it's gonna be AH-mazing).  The full $10 goes directly to Camp Sojourner and helps support the many programs that help Philadelphia’s girls develop lifelong leadership skills.  A mere $10 allows them to buy supplies, support scholarships for summer camp and covering admission to local attractions.

Need yet another reason to attend?  SCP is only $435 away from raising $5000 overall for local Philadelphia charities.  You can help us reach our 2011 goal by just showing up!

So…grab yourself, grab a friend, grab $10 and join us as we “Drink Up, Give Back!”

Event Details

December - Save The Date

Our December 6th Happy Hour to benefit Camp Sojourner will be held at Blue Bear Tavern (11th between Walnut and Locust).  Come share some holiday cheer, a good dose of do-gooding, and a bit o' boozing!  See you at 5:30pm.

Camp Sojourner is a leadership development program for Philadelphia girls.  They offer not only a summer camp experience but development programs throughout the year!

A big THANKS to our Veterans and City Tap House...

Thanks to those who made the trek to University City for happy hour last night!  We are happy to report we were able to raise $305 for the Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service & Education Center (PVMSEC)!  This will help them feed at least 90 Veterans in need (gotta love that number).  Thanks also to City Tap House for providing free drinks and some very tasty snacks (be sure to hit up the flat breads next time you're there).

Mark your calendars for the first Tuesday in December (6th) when we join in on the holiday festivities and raise our spirits (get it??) to Camp Sojourner.  We'll have more information on the location soon.

November Event - City Tap House with Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service & Education Center

After a month filled with goblins and ghouls, you can look forward to one event that doesn't require a costume to attend!  Join us on Tuesday, November 1st for our next happy hour.  We'll be testing out the SCP waters in University City and gathering at City Tap House.  They are generously donating a free drink (including their $3 drafts list, house wine and their Infusion cocktails) plus appetizers for our crowd.  The proceeds will support our city's Veterans through the Philadelphia Veteran's Multi-Service & Education Center (PVMSEC).  As usual, the suggested donation is $10.  And do you know what the PVMSEC can do with $10?  A lot!  $10 can provide 10 meals for Veterans or three comfort bags for formerly homeless Veterans to welcome them to their new apartments.  So join us in November to both recognize and support our Veterans! The fun runs from 5:30-8pm.

As a side note, we are a mere $740 from hitting the $5000 mark for total dollars raised since we started SCP.  Thanks to those of you who have helped along the way (and to those of you who will participate in the future)!  Drinking really does add up!

Fantastic showing for Women Against Abuse!

Sorry to be slow with this post-event update (A week?  Egads! I blame the post-Phillies phunk.)  We're excited to share that we raised a whopping $750 for Women Against Abuse at The Perch Pub.  A big thank you to Perch Pub for their awesome beer selection and delicious food (yum-o!).  Of course the biggest thank you goes to all of you who came out and to our lovely host for October, Kim Graham!  As usual we loved seeing new faces and hope to see them again at a future event.

In November we'll be supporting our Veteran's at City Tap House (University City).  Be on the lookout for more details!

October Event - Perch Pub with Women Against Abuse

October's Happy Hour (Oct. 4) is just around the corner. In one week we'll be gathering at Perch Pub with proceeds to benefit Women Against Abuse. Whether the cause is near to your heart, the weather has you itching to get out and spend some quality time with your friends (and making more) or you just want a great spot to pre-game for the Phillie's Play-Off (100 wins, baby!), we want to see you! Perch Pub will be providing a free drink and appetizers for your $10, going directly to Women Against Abuse.

We also want to send some special SCP love to Kim Graham who has been a constant supporter at our events and this month will play the roll of hostess. So if you know Kim, do her a favor and come, and if you don't know Kim...you better come and meet her! We look forward to seeing you starting at 5:30pm.

Rain, Rain didn't get in C2C's Way!

Well, that was a dark and stormy night!  And while turnout wasn't quite as strong as usual, the giving spirit was in full effect.  A big thanks to everyone who braved the wet weather to support Cradles to Crayons and to The Dark Horse for serving up some seriously delicious apps and drinks last night.  You helped us raise the bar once again with a whopping....drum roll please...$800!  That's right, fewer people and more money.  Of course, a lot of that has to do with the generous support of Guaranteed Abstract Corporation who was our sponsor for the night.  So yay for C2C, yay for Dark Horse, yay for Guaranteed Abstract and yay to YOU!

We hope to see everyone at the next event on Tuesday, October 4th (which we promise will have better weather...because how could it be worse?!).  More details will follow.
